2009 Swimming Schedule

AHS Swimmers Take Marmonte League Champs by Storm

Agoura’s JV and Varsity swimmers made an impressive showing at last week’s Marmonte League Championships.  With the Varsity Boy’s end-of-meet, first place victory in the 400 freestyle relay – stunning the Thousand Oaks squad, sophomore Shannyn Hultin’s double-league championship in the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle events, and an impressive 27 swimmers placing in the top 8 in individual events, AHS demonstrated why we’re a team to be reckoned with. Agoura’s varsity and junior varsity boys took 2nd place overall, while the varsity and junior varsity girls took 3rd place overall.

Swimmers who placed in the Finals for AHS in individual events were, as follows:

Varsity Boys

Ramsey Abdulhamid – 8th place in the 100 backstroke

James Altmann – 7th place in the 200 free and 8th in the 100 free

Brendan Delear – 3rd place in the 200 free, and 4th place in the 500 free

Jonathan Hall – 3rd place in the 100 butterfly and 6th place in the 100 backstroke

P.J. Iannone – 11th place in the 200 free and 9th place in the 500 free

Vatche Kazanjian – 2nd place in the 100 butterfly and 5th place in the 100 backstroke

Josh Lefkowitz – 14th place in the 100 breaststroke

Alec McCabe – 13th place in the 200 IM, 13th in the 100 butterfly

Danny McClintick – 11th place in the 500 free and 16th place in the 100 breaststroke

David Sparks – 4th place in the 50 free and 2nd place in the 100 freestyle

Sammy Wolfson – 4th place in the 200 IM and 2nd place in the 100 backstroke

Adam Abdulhamid – 2nd in the 50 fly

Roi Aaronson – 3rd in the 50 fly

AHS Swimmers Take Top Spots at Ventura County Swim Championships

Agoura's Varsity swimmers took a number of top spots and set meet records at last week's Ventura County Swim Championships held at Ventura College. Preliminaries for the girls and boys were held on Tuesday, April 7th and Wednesday, April 8th, with Finals taking place Thursday, April 9th.
Emerging victorious from the meet were the following swimmers:

 
GIRLS
Sophomore Savannah Fletcher took 7th in the 50 freestyle in 26.55 and 5th in the 100 freestyle in 57.08.
Sophomore Shannyn Hultin took first in both the 100 butterfly (1:00.39) and the 500 freestyle (5:05.64) in automatic CIF times and setting new meet records in both events.
Senior Mikee Snyder took the silver medal in the 200 IM (2:16.82) and the bronze in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.00) in CIF consideration times.

 
The Agoura Girls 200 Medley Relay team consisting of Shannyn Hultin, Mikee Snyder, senior Christine Vournas and Savannah Fletcher, took first place in that event in a time of 1:56.60 (a CIF consideration time and just .06 off the automatic time). The 200 Free Relay team of Sophomore Callan Edwards, Senior Quincy Kayton, Senior Christina Vournas and Freshman Megan Linder took the consolation final, placing 9th in 1:49.74. The 400 free relay team of Linder, Fletcher, Snyder and Hultin took the bronze in a time of 3:50.61 (CIF consideration).

 
BOYS
Junior Brendan Delear took the bronze medal in the 500 freestyle in 4:52.18 (just .18 off the automatic CIF time) and 4th place in the 200 freestyle with his time of 1:48.58 (CIF consideration).
Junior Jonathan Hall placed 4th in the 100 fly with a time of 54.36 (.36 off the automatic CIF) and 13th in the 100 back in 1:00.64.
Sophomore Vatche Kazanjian and Freshman Sammy Wolfson, took 5th and 7th place, respectively, in the 200 IM with their times of 2:07.05 and 2:11.14. Wolfson also took 6th place in the 100 backstroke in 58.31 (CIF consideration time).

 
The Boys 200 Medley Relay team of Sammy Wolfson, Vatche Kazanjian, Jonathan Hall and junior Ramsey Abdulhamid took 4th place in 1:46.55. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Hall, Abdulhamid, Delear and Senior David Sparks took 5th place in 1:35.06. Kazanjian, Wolfson, Delear and Sparks took 6th in the 400 Free Relay in 3:26.02 (CIF consideration time)
